After SlumberSleep left Guyana, there was a market gap and always a businessman, Mr. Charran saw this as an opportunity to be his own boss. Since Mr. Charran had worked for SlumberSleep as a Production Manager, he had a fair idea of the industry, and so started the business enterprise that is today known to all as Comfort Sleep Guyana. The factory at 49 Eccles, Industrial Estate, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was purchased and business started. Today, Comfort Sleep is Guyana’s leading mattress company, prized for its products and their quality. About Mr. Dennis Charran Mr. Dennis Charran is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Comfort Sleep. He started as a small importer of chowmein, soap, flour, and toothpaste in 1980 and eventually started a partnership with companies in Trinidad and Tobago, one such company is the Twin-Island Republic. The partnership between the Twin-Island Republic and Mr. Charran led to the export of unique pieces of clothing and the profits from that business were used to purchase car parts and pharmaceutical items that were sold right here in Guyana. In 1994, Mr. Charran began importing foam sheets and mattresses and from the profits garnered, he was able to open a store in La Penitence, Georgetown retailing foam and mattresses, household appliances, among other items in which was the beginning of Comfort Sleep.
